Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 6, 2026 - Last updated: May 6, 2026

The short version: ApolloFM is a radio player that makes it easy to listen to live stations - we do not own or control any stations or their content. In the App, we do not require an account and do not track your listening; your library and history stay on your device. Our website uses Google Analytics in aggregate (see below). We do not collect personal data in the App itself.

1. Who we are

ApolloFM is an iOS application published by Tarik Zukic ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process information in connection with your use of the ApolloFM application (the "App") and the website located at apollofm.app (the "Site"), collectively referred to as the "Services."

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described in this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

For questions about this policy, contact us at info@quackdb.app.

2. Information we do not collect (iOS App)

ApolloFM is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or submit any personally identifiable information ("PII") to use any feature of the App. We do not operate backend servers that store user profiles, preferences, listening history, or behavioral data. We do not employ analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or any other mechanism to monitor or profile your behavior in or through the iOS App.

3. Marketing website (Google Analytics)

When you visit our public website (for example pages at apollofm.app or where we host documentation and legal pages, including GitHub Pages), we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google may collect or process information such as IP address, device and browser characteristics, pages viewed, and general location, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. We use this information in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the website. The iOS App does not load Google Analytics. You may limit or opt out of some collection using browser settings, privacy-focused browsers, or tools such as Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on where available.

4. Information stored on your device

Certain data is stored locally on your device using iOS storage mechanisms (UserDefaults, on-device databases). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party:

  • Your saved station library and favorites.
  • Your recently played station history.
  • App preferences (selected region, onboarding state, playback settings).
  • Subscription entitlement status (active or inactive, verified locally via StoreKit).

This data belongs to you. You can delete it at any time by deleting the App from your device. We have no means to access, recover, or reconstruct this data.

5. Location data

ApolloFM may request access to your approximate location using iOS Core Location with the "When In Use" permission level. Location access is entirely optional, and you can decline or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings without losing access to any App functionality.

If you grant permission, ApolloFM uses your approximate location solely to surface radio stations near your geographic area in the App's tuner feature. Your location coordinates are resolved to a country and region name on your device using Apple's on-device geocoding. Location data is never transmitted off your device, sent to our servers, or shared with any third party.

6. Radio station catalog (RadioBrowser)

Station metadata (names, stream URLs, genres, country tags, artwork references) is sourced from RadioBrowser, an open-source, community-maintained radio station directory. When you browse, search, or filter stations, the App queries RadioBrowser's public API.

These API queries contain only the search or filter parameters you provided (for example, a genre name or country code). They do not contain personal identifiers, your device ID, your Apple ID, or your location. RadioBrowser is a third-party service with its own privacy practices, which you can review at radio-browser.info.

7. Subscriptions and payments

ApolloFM Pro is an auto-renewing subscription purchased and managed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. All payment processing, transaction records, receipt validation, and subscription management are handled by Apple. We receive only a cryptographically verified confirmation of your subscription status (active or inactive) via StoreKit on your device.

We do not receive, process, or store your name, Apple ID, email address, payment card information, billing address, or any other financial or personal details associated with your purchase. Apple's privacy practices are described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

8. Radio station audio streams

ApolloFM is a player and directory that provides a simple, user-friendly way to listen to live radio stations. We do not own, operate, host, or broadcast any radio stations or their content. All audio content comes directly from independent third-party broadcasters.

When you play a station, the App connects directly from your device to the station's own stream server. ApolloFM does not proxy, intercept, store, cache, record, log, redistribute, or inspect your audio streams or the network traffic associated with them. The connection is between your device and the broadcaster's server - we are not involved in that connection.

Your IP address may be visible to the station's streaming server, as is standard for any direct internet connection. We have no control over or access to the data practices of third-party broadcasters. Some station streams use plain HTTP rather than HTTPS because many broadcasters have not adopted TLS for their audio delivery infrastructure. ApolloFM requests an iOS App Transport Security exception specifically and only for media streams to enable playback from these stations; all other network requests use HTTPS.

9. Crash reporting and diagnostics

If you have opted in to share diagnostic and usage data with app developers in your iOS privacy settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized, aggregated crash reports and basic usage metrics through App Store Connect. These reports do not include PII, cannot be linked to individual users, and are used solely to identify and fix software defects.

You can control this sharing at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements on your device.

10. Push notifications

ApolloFM may request permission to send push notifications. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings. We do not use notification device tokens to identify, track, or profile individual users, and we do not share device tokens with any third party.

11. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect PII from children. Because ApolloFM collects no PII from any user, there is no personal data to collect, use, or delete with respect to younger users. If you believe a child has used the Services in a way that raises a privacy concern, contact us at info@quackdb.app.

12. Data retention and deletion

Because all App data is stored locally on your device and we do not operate servers that hold your information:

  • Delete the App to remove all locally stored data from your device.
  • Manage or cancel your ApolloFM Pro subscription through your Apple ID settings.
  • Any anonymized diagnostic data Apple has shared with us is aggregated and cannot be linked to or deleted on a per-user basis.

13. Your rights under applicable law

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding personal information. The iOS App is designed so we do not maintain profiles or listening history on our servers; rights often matter most for website use (for example Google Analytics in Section 3), forms you submit, and communications with us. We respect and acknowledge the following:

  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell your personal information. The iOS App does not collect personal information for our own databases. Our website uses Google Analytics as described in Section 3; Google may process information that can qualify as personal information under California law. You may have rights to access, delete, or opt out of certain sale/sharing; contact us at info@quackdb.app or use tools Google offers.
  • European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland residents (GDPR/UK GDPR): The iOS App is built so we do not receive your listening history or account data. When you visit our website, Google Analytics may process personal data as described in Section 3. If you believe we or our processors have mishandled personal data, contact us at info@quackdb.app.
  • Other jurisdictions: If your local law provides additional privacy rights, we will cooperate to honor those rights to the extent they apply to data we control. Contact us with your request.

14. Do Not Track signals

The iOS App does not track you across websites. On the website, we use Google Analytics as described in Section 3. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal; Google Analytics and many other services may not change behavior based on DNT alone. You can use browser privacy settings, blockers, or Google's opt-out tools to limit analytics collection.

15. Third-party links and station content

The Services may display links to or stream audio from third-party radio stations and websites. Once you connect to a third-party stream or navigate to a third-party site, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third party, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.

16. International data considerations

The Services are operated from the State of Washington, United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that any data you provide (for example, via the contact form on our website) may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Google Analytics data may be processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates, as described in Google's policies. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer and processing.

17. Security

While no system can guarantee absolute security, we have designed the App to minimize data exposure by not collecting or transmitting personal data. Locally stored data on your device is protected by iOS's built-in security mechanisms, including device encryption and the application sandbox.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, provide additional notice (such as through an in-app notification or on the Site). Your continued use of the Services after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to any changes, you must stop using the Services.
